Dear Beloved Parishioners and Guests,
Truly we sincerely wish to express our heartfelt gratitude and
admiration to all the UCWL ladies who dedicated so much time and
energy in preparation and hosting their Valentine Luncheon. The joyful harmony and wonderful cooperation verily promised a most successful luncheon and in every aspect, it was a ‘smashing‘ success!
As your pastor, I am so very proud of you all and again say: Diakyu!
As is our custom now here at St. Joseph’s, we do not celebrate the Forgiveness Sunday Vespers (when few are able to participate), but wisely conduct this most meaningful service at each of the Sat/Sun. Divine Liturgies. This provides us with a special opportunity to ask forgiveness of one another and to forgive each other. I do thank you for forgiving me for the many times I have failed you as your priest.
This is a wonderful centuries old tradition – that is, commencing Lent with the proper Christian attitude of forgiveness and thus we may prayerfully prepare for the great feast of feasts – EASTER! In this bulletin, we have a schedule of the many various prayer times in which we can participate; we truly encourage you to do so – as an individual and as a family!
I promise you will wonderfully grow in faith and in love.
Ah! The good Knights will commence their famous Fish Fry this Friday – this has become a major Lenten event in Wpg. We am so pleased that so many parishioners are
actively involved in hosting and participating in the wonderful fellowship and food!
Many of you come early so we have changed the time of the Way of the Cross to 6:30 pm so that you can slip up to church after your meal and spend some peaceful time praying… again, come as a family! The family that prays together stays together!
At the moment we (13 of us) Redemptorists are gathered in Yorkton in working sessions to share how we might more effectively administer our parishes and our various pastoral ministries. And, yes, definitely to pray for more vocations! There are only 2 of us that are under 60 and us older folks are running out of steam!
St. Mary’s church and monastery were the original foundation of our Yorkton Province. Over 100 years ago, Fr. Delaere, a devout and holy Belgium Redemptorist, dedicated his life
to serve the Ukrainian immigrants. He and his fellow priests through much hardship set the foundation for the Ukrainian Church in Man. and Sask. We are most thankful for their missionary efforts and the great service that they gave to us all.
